Physics College Class Question: Projectile Motion

Projectile Motion is a combination of a uniform horizontal motion and a uniformly accelerated vertical motion.

  1. Yeah that's right.

Projectile motion is a special type of linear kinematics which have uniform horizontal velocity and uniform vertical acceleration, that is, the acceleration due to gravity, estimated to -9.81 m/s^2 at a mean sea level. Projectile motion describes the motion of a projectile or an object thrown at a specific angle provided that air resistance and other net external forces are ignored.

The vertical components of a projectile motion is independent from the horizontal components, neither of them affects the other. The range of the trajectory is highest when the angle of release is precisely at 45 degrees of pi/4 radians, provided that the initial vertical position has the same elevation as the final vertical position.
